NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting

Description of course

MSDP are recruiting for the next cohort for their NVQ 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting which will be commencing in October 2020.

The course consists of theoretical and practical classroom based sessions where candidates will meet on a monthly basis for the first 12 months as a group and then on an individual basis with their allocated assessor for the next 12 months.

You will learn about a range of interpreting topics for example:

• Preparation
• Discourse analysis
• Ethical Dilemmas
• Models of Interpreting
• Code of Conduct
• Coping Strategies
• Registers
• Effective Co-Working
• Sight Translation
• Simultaneous vs Consecutive Interpreting

Course Fees

The course fee for the NVQ 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting is £4,500. This cost will include:

• Classroom based theoretical and practical workshops relevant to Sign Language Interpreting delivered by assessors and guest speakers.
• Unit registration fee with Signature for the 5 units (A1, B1, C1, D1, and either E1 or G1 depending on your option)
• Assessor time for classroom based sessions
• Assessor time for assessing evidence clips (25 hours per candidate)
• Individual tutorials
• Internal verification
• External verification (Signature)
• Final Portfolio submission

Duration

The course duration is 12 months candidates have a further 12 months (24 months total) to complete evidence collection and submit portfolios
