MSDP provides courses for individuals and organisations additional to sign language.  These include:

MEET & GREET

Using basic Sign Language this course will help you communicate with Deaf service users. This can be customised to your business needs. This half-day session can be extended to a full day Introduction to BSL.

* DEAF AWARENESS TRAINING

This course explores the issues facing Deaf, Deafened, Hard of Hearing and Deaf/Blind People. Learners will be able to identify ways in which services and information may not be accessible within their organisation. Solutions will be provided to any barriers identified.

There is a written assessment at the end of the course. This is in two sections:

Section A = 20 Multiple choice questions

Section B = 8 Questions requiring short written answers

We recommend you complete this course prior to commencing your British Sign Language Training.

Duration 2 full days 9.30am - 4.30 pm

DEAF EQUALITY ACTION TRAINING

This course covers a range of topics: Models of Disability, Terminology, Methods of Communication, and Disability Discrimination Act. Learners will also identify ways in which their services and information may not be accessible, and provide solutions to any barriers identified.

All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Duration 1 day 9.30 am - 4.30pm

* COMMUNICATION TACTICS

Course participants will be able to:

The Curriculum and Level 1 certificate in Communication Tactics with Deaf & Deaf/Blind people has been developed to provide a nationally accredited standard in basic communication skills.

Please note: This course forms the first 2 weeks of the BSL Level 1 Course.
