Community Information

The Community Information Department was created to address the information/communication requirements of local Deaf Community members.

This service supports equal access for the Deaf community, in order to give them greater say.  This is important, with regard to consultation, service development and social democracy

The service involves running the MSDP website, maintaining resources on and for Deaf people, as well as creating and publicising the need for Deaf access to all services and information.

  DeafAbility Productions Limited

We are a company, based at MSDP, Queens Drive, and we offer a customised service for translating written documents into BSL (British Sign Language).  We use a range of qualified interpreters as well as members of the Deaf community to sign the information onto DVD.  We have our own filming studio and edit suite within the MSDP offices on Queens Drive, so we can film on site or if requested, we can also do location filming.

We can produce a DVD with:

By translating information to make it accessible for Deaf people, it enables you to fulfil some of the criteria required by the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act).

We also take existing footage and add a signer and/or subtitles to it.

If you or your organisation require your documents or information translating into BSL, or if you would like more information, email Suzanne Robinson or phone 0151 228 0888 (voice/minicom).
