Guide Communicator
This is a new service established in 2005 to provide a guide communication service to adults with dual-sensory loss in the Merseyside area.
Deaf/Blind people communicate in a variety of communication methods, including:
- Deaf/Blind Manual
- Hands on
- Block
- Moon
- Braille
This means that many of these people are unable to access information and services, without support.
The role of a Guide Communicator is to act as the 'eyes and ears' of the Deaf/Blind person, enabling them to participate in many activities.
It also enables them to access written information, assist with mobility and with leisure activities. Therefore, reducing isolation.
