Family and Youth Services
Family and Youth services are an important part of MSDP. The Youth Service is the largest of its kind in the Northwest and caters for all ages from 4-19years.
They offer a wide variety of on and offsite activities, including football, dodgeball, crafts, snooker, skiing, climbing, swimming and trampolining.
The Deaf Active Youth Service or D.A.Y.S. is a youth-led service and runs from 6-9pm every weekday evening for people aged 11-19years. It has recently been accredited for teaching kickboxing to young people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing.
There is also an After School Club, which runs every weekday in term time from 2.30-6pm.
Through the school holidays, MSDP holds the Play Scheme and is open to anyone in the Merseyside area aged from 4-19years.
MSDP also offers courses for family and friends of D/deaf or hard of hearing children and young people. They will have the opportunity to learn sign language to level 2 and study Deaf Awareness in Family Sign (also known as Deaf Connect). They can also learn to sign with their baby in Baby Sign.
The Community Development Department are currently undertaking a National Quality Assurance Scheme called Aiming Higher.
We are committed to Aiming Higher.
