Deaf Active Youth Service (D.A.Y.S.)

Deaf Active Youth Service is a highly successful youth-led service empowering members by making their own choices and decisions for the future. We welcome young people ages 11-19years that enjoy a multitude of activities on and off site.

Onsite at MSDP we have two large youth club rooms and a sports hall. Within this setting members enjoy playing Pool, Dodgeball, Basketball and Indoor Football. We also do Arts & crafts, cookery and drama enabling the young people to become more active and skilled for the future.

D.A.Y.S. is proud to be able to deliver the first accredited kickboxing club especially for youth with hearing impairment.

D.A.Y.S. places healthy living high on our agenda. In support of this, members of the youth service raised enough money to develop a brand new fitness suite consisting of:

treadmills

bikes

cross trainers

rowing machines

punch bag

weight machines (14yrs +)

This is complimented by our juice bar and healthy eating programme. All food prepared by our qualified staff is made from fresh ingredients.  Some examples include Irish stew, spaghetti bolognese, fruit salad, soup of the day, chicken wraps.

Offsite D.A.Y.S. works with external projects to ensure service providers are deaf aware and accessible to members of the youth club. Activities are as such:

Rock Climbing

Skiing

Swimming

Bowling

Cinemas

Scuba Diving

Hip-Hop Dance and much more

We aim to always have a trip available every Wednesday.

D.A.Y.S. also provide residential activities throughout the year. Last year we enjoyed a stay in Llanberis – Wales and are looking forward to our next residential in Spain!
