MSDP have a long established working relationship and partnership with Liverpool City Council. The Authority works very closely with MSDP to deliver its statutory obligations.
MSDP have several programs funded solely or jointly by the City Council. These programmes include: delivering social work services to both adults and children; a supporting people programme; play scheme and after school services for children and young people; and delivering Deaf awareness training for voluntary sector organisations in Liverpool.
In 2005 Liverpool City Council became the first local authority in Merseyside to publish information on its website in British Sign Language. To access this information click on the link below.

MSDP has provided many City Council staff with BSL level 1 and BSL level 2 training, improving the access to services for Deaf people. Many One Stop Shops now have staff with some BSL communication skills.
