Wirral Deaf/Blind group meet every Thursday Morning between 9.30 to 12.30 in Birkenhead. They have many activities with the help of keen volunteers, which include bingo (specially adapted), keep fit, card crafts, and the occasional day trip.
The group co-ordinator is Margaret Harrison who has been a great volunteer for many years. The regular members of the group Ernie, Joyce, Rose and Gerard really enjoy coming. Lynn Evans, the MSDP Communicator Guide Co-ordinator explains: “Deaf/Blind people are the most isolated because of their communication needs, and they benefit from coming here and mixing with others which is fantastic for them.”
The Group enjoyed a fun morning session making their own sweets for the group in June 2006.

Wirral Deaf/Blind Group are keen to have more volunteers who have experience of Deaf/Blind people and who have attained Level 2 in the Deaf/Blind Manual. If you would like to be involved as a volunteer or would like more information about the Deaf/Blind Group please contact Lynn Evans at MSDP on 0151 228 0888 or email levans@msdp.org.uk.
